Embrace your Curves
Human beings don’t come ‘as standard’. Hallelujah. That is what makes life so uncompromisingly varied and brilliant isn’t it?. Remember those wonderful words ‘voluptuous’ and ‘buxom’? Intriguingly, studies have shown that the sight of a curvaceous human body triggers the same part of the brain where positive reward is stimulated and this sensation can actually be addictive. Who knew? So, why do we then feel the need to hide our juicier-than-a nineties-model proportions in badly fitting clothes? Clothes that are compromisingly tight, made of poor fabrics or loose shapes that might best be termed ‘sacks’. We deserve to be recognised. To feel powerful and elegant in exquisite clothes crafted only in the finest materials
We’ve all been there, trying to lose weight to fit into societal beauty standards, but here’s the thing… every body is different and that’s ok. Accepting our body shape and being happy with how wonderful we truly look will do WONDERS for our confidence and sense of style. Everyone, no matter what size or shape they are, has body hang-ups and it’s ok to have bad days – but accepting our bodies, for all their perceived flaws and all their wonderful assets will allow us to make better style decisions that boost both mood and confidence.
The first step is to start every day with an affirmation “My body is perfect just the way it is”. Taking time to redefine the relationship we have with our bodies is of vital importance in the quest to know and embrace the body in which we live. To cherish and nurture our bodies, not as a work-in-progress, but as the absolutely ideal shape for right now.
The second step is to wear only clothes that we love. Clothes that bring joy and beauty into our lives. Clothes that fit brilliantly. Relentlessly. Uncompromisingly. All day. Forever. Such pieces are considered, perfected and tailored for the brilliant, energetic, ambitious women that we are. Every seam detail has been scrutinised, every button examined, and every inch of cloth meticulously chosen by our founder, Amy. (*link to About us). Every silhouette in the Melyr wardrobe has been vetted not only by Amy but by an entire community of the women who surround us here on the Wirral, in the North West of the UK, where Melyr’s home can be found.
