Game-changing MELYRFLEX high-waisted trousers

Game-changing MELYRFLEX high-waisted trousers

For the love of tummies and ‘juicy’ bodies everywhere might we please end the era of curve-distorting, tummy-torturing button fastenings? We have come a long way as a human race. We have successfully landed a man on the surface of the moon. Women finally got the vote in the UK in 1928. Nearly one hundred years have passed since that wonderfully liberating moment and yet women are still trying (and crying!) to force themselves into trousers and skirts with disfiguring and uncomfortable waistbands.

Our favourite trousers and jeans typically have buttons and zips to the waist. Our most beautiful skirts, the ones we reach for time and again only to reject as too uncomfortable, have zips and buttons to the back or side. Life is stressful enough without having to squeeze into badly fitting clothes that do little to glorify and support our scrumptious feminine curves. Added to this, our bodies change over time. We do not stay the same and why should we?

Say goodbye to uncomfortable waistbands

A post partum mum has a very different shape from her peri-menopausal sister, although both must suffer from the shame of feeling too big and bulgy to meet with societal norms. One of our fabulous founder, Amy’s good friends, Caroline, is a coeliac who finds herself in a great deal of stomach pain due to bloating and the tighter waists of trousers over her stoma bag. We think she looks exquisite just the way she is of course, but we knew that if we could innovate a new type of waistband that would stretch and flex with her  and the painful disability she experiences, we would have created something not only novel but liberating.

Stretch trousers never looked so good

This means that when we are hormonal (the dreaded monthly bloat), or have put on just a little weight after a luxurious family holiday, or a truly celebratory Christmas, we feel trapped. We are forced to sit in meetings and ‘undo a button’  so we don’t feel constant irritation and distraction. We wince when bending over in tightly waisted trousers and skirts because we know that an unflattering red welt at the tummy will be the painful result.

FREE YOUR WAIST with MELYRFLEX wide leg trousers

Here at Melyr we do things differently –  your perfect, easywear wardrobe staples are not only the stuff of dreams. Our novel ‘MELYRFLEX’ waistband – to be found on all Melyr ‘bottoms’ –  is engineered to be made of two types of fabric. ‘MELYRFLEX’ consists of a fusion of not one, but two waistbands. You’ll find the usual waistband you would expect to see on a skirt or trouser but this does not rise all the way to the waist, it stops just a little short of the midriff – avoiding the use of the compromising and ‘nippy’ button – and is topped by smooth no-pinch jersey waistband which allows the piece to be simply pulled on or off. This no-pinch, supportive, pull-on section of the waistband is created from moisture wicking workout fabric. The kind of fabric you would find on a pair of premium gym leggings or shorts. But, we have added further seaming and panelling to MELYRFLEX which gives extra support and caresses the body to give an elegant, streamlined appearance.

You’ll still have a little ‘tuckage’ room for all your favourite Melyr tops too*. The MELYRFLEX band cleverly allows you to dip a little of the front of your top into the band so ‘french tuck’ to your heart’s content and achieve the artful drape which adds polish and elongates the look to balance the silhouette. As women of many exquisite shapes and sizes we should not have to compromise on style or comfort. With MELYRFLEX, we don’t have to.
